IRST or Intel Rapid Storage Technology is developed by Intel for computers running on Windows operating systems. It offers greater levels of performance and reliability to the computers equipped with SATA or PCIe drives. When you are using one or multiple Serial ATA (SATA ) or PCIe drives, you can take advantage of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology in order to get enhanced performance and low power consumption. To use Intel RST, you have to install its compatible driver on your computer. But some users are unable to install it. In addition to the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems, the following Windows OS are supported by the Intel Rapid Storage Platform:

Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 are not supported on mobile platforms. In addition to this, your system should have at least one Serial ATA or SATA hard drive.

1] Switch to stable build from Insider

If you are using the Insider build of Windows 11/10, switch to the stable build and then try to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. This should fix the problem.

2] Check whether you are installing the right driver for your architecture

Check whether your architecture is RAID or AHCI. It might be possible that you were downloading the incorrect driver for your architecture. Visit Intel’s official website to download the right driver.

3] Download the latest version of IRST from the vendor’s website

Check whether your computer manufacturer provides the compatible driver for Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Visit your computer manufacturer’s official website, search for the driver and download the driver (if available). If you cannot find the IRST driver, contact the support person.

If the driver package is downloaded in zip format, extract it and open the extracted folder. Now, double-click on the installer file to install the driver.

4] Download the latest driver from Intel Download Center

If your computer’s manufacturer does not provide the IRST driver, then visit Intel Download Center and download the Intel RST driver from there. After downloading the driver, locate the downloaded file and extract it (if required). Now, run the installer file by double-clicking on it. Follow the instructions on the installation wizard to install the latest version of IRST on your Windows machine.

How do I fix Intel Rapid Storage Technology not running?

If the Intel Rapid Storage Technology is not running or working on your system, first, check the status of the IRST service. Open the Windows 11/10 Services app and locate the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Service. Once you find it, check whether it is running or stopped. If it is stopped, start it. Also, change its Startup type from Automatic (Delayed) to Automatic.

Does Intel Rapid Storage Technology work with Windows 10?

Intel Rapid Storage Technology works with both 32-bit and 64-bit architecture of the Windows 10 operating system.
