County Sheriff

— A Market Street, Salineville, man requested to have people removed from his home at 11:58 p.m. Sunday. The man was allowing his stepdaughter, her husband and child stay there rent free, but the stepdaughter and husband had friends stay for a few days and he did not want them there. Deputies explained it is a civil matter and if he does not agree with them having guests, he needs to start the eviction process or get a contract drawn up. He started the eviction process.

— A state Route 164, Washington Township, man reported at 2 a.m. Monday his son called him because he heard car doors closing and people talking and was concerned someone was on the property. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone.

— A state Route 45, Madison Township, woman reported at 1:48 a.m. Saturday someone was trying to get into her home. Deputies did not find anyone.

— A domestic violence incident was reported at a state Route 45, Center Township, home at 3:18 a.m. Sunday. Both people involved refused to prosecute the other.

— Deputies assisted Leetonia EMS and police at an Elm Street home at 11:31 a.m. Sunday where someone was found dead in the home.

— An administrator at Auburn Skilled Nursing, Valley Road, Butler Township, reported at 12:45 p.m. Sunday a 98-year-old resident with dementia went after another resident, but neither resident was injured.

— A Hazel Road, Leetonia, resident reported at 10:20 p.m. Monday her 21-year-old son was playing his music loudly and she wanted him to turn it down. She threatened to throw his speaker out. Deputies spoke to the man, who said he would turn it down and apologize to his mother.

— A Desellem Road, Madison Township, resident reported at 1:41 p.m. Sunday someone needed to be removed from the property. Deputies found the woman at the home, who said she was there to pick up more of her belongings and had towels, a tanning bed and chickens still there. She left and deputies explained to the resident he needs to evict her if he wants her to stop returning.

— A state Route 14, Unity Township, resident reported at 9:26 p.m. Monday needing his son removed from the home. When deputies arrived, the son had left already. He does not want him there, but his wife was outside telling deputies she did want her son there and that her son gets upset when his father calls her names. The father, who was intoxicated, claimed his son broke two of his phones.

— A Brookfield Street, Center Township, resident reported at 1:55 a.m. Sunday her brother assaulted her. A domestic violence warrant was issued for the brother.

— A Trinity Church Road, Hanover Township, woman reported at 2:05 a.m. Monday her neighbors have been spraying weed killer for two weeks and she is having breathing issues. Deputies suggested she call the health department.

— A domestic dispute was reported at a home on Haiti Road, Salineville, at 2:23 a.m. Monday where the man reportedly told deputies he was chased by his pregnant girlfriend wielding a baseball bat. Deputies found her sitting on the front porch and the man standing in the yard by the vehicle. They told deputies they were discussing dissolving their partnership. He obtained some of his belongings and left.

— A man was reported lying wrapped in a tarp with a bicycle along the road at the intersection of state Route 45 and Industrial Park Road, Center Township, at 6:44 a.m. Sunday. The man told deputies he was waiting for the Discount Drug Mart to open.

— An Opal Drive, Yellow Creek Township, man reported at 2:58 a.m. Tuesday his neighbors were running around outside, making noise and waking up his children. Deputies checked the area, but could not find anyone.

Columbiana

— Vehicles along South Dusquesne Street were egged Monday evening. Officers were unable to locate the vandals.

— Officers assisted the County Sheriff’s Office at the old egg farm on old fourteen Monday afternoon. The sheriffs office took over an investigation after youth had broken into the facility and were caught.

— A woman came on station Monday to report possible menacing behavior.

— Officers took a report of credit card fraud on station Monday.

Salem

— A North Union Avenue woman reported at 8:04 a.m. Monday she was having relationship issues with her boyfriend and he would not return her keys nor her medication to her. Police spoke to the boyfriend, who said she had destroyed some of his property, but he did return the keys and medication.

— A manager of an East Fourth Street apartment complex reported at 11:34 a.m. Monday a person with a dog was staying at the apartment of one of the tenants and the manager wanted the person ordered to leave because that person does not live there and tenant had violated numerous portions of the lease contract. The person was not there when police arrived, but the dog was. Police will return to speak to the person.

— A Continental Drive resident reported at 12:27 p.m. Monday someone is stealing his internet and hacking his phone.

— A dispute was reported at an East State Street business at 12:47 p.m. Monday, where someone reported a man has been sending unwanted e-mails to his corporate office. The man told police the person has been harassing him.

— A man in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street reported at 12:49 p.m. Monday someone stole items such as jumper cables, gloves and paper towels over the past week from his garage and cut his garden hose, which was attached to the side of his home. Additionally, he installed security cameras recently and when someone rang his doorbell Monday morning, he discovered someone had damaged his cameras.

— A man was reported lying on the front entrance of a business in the 600 block of East Second Street at 1:27 p.m. Monday. Police spoke to the man, who said he just laid down and fell asleep. He then left.

— A couple in the 300 block of Rose Avenue were involved in a domestic dispute at 3:49 p.m. Monday where they were arguing over the TV. The woman then began shoving the man out the door and wanted him gone. She asked for advice on evicting him and left for a while. He told police he would look for another place to stay.

— An East Fourth Street woman reported at 4:38 p.m. Monday she believes she lost her phone in a business in the 200 block of West State Street, but when she checked with them, the phone had not been found. The woman said she called her phone and a man answers and acts like he cannot hear. When police called the number twice, a woman answered the second time and appeared like she could not hear.

— Someone reported at 4:52 p.m. Monday a woman has threatened them several times on recent occasions in different locations around and in Salem, including coming to the person’s home and trying to push her way in and pushing the person in a forceful manner.

— A Columbiana woman reported at 4:53 p.m. Monday she believes someone has access to her phone and is locking her out of it. Police suggested she try to get a new pass code

or a new phone, as well as gave her advice about obtaining a restraining order.

— A South Lincoln Avenue man reported at 4:58 p.m. Monday he was out of town for the night and returned to find three of his four tires flattened.

— Cassandra L. Tomlin, 23, Franklin Avenue, was cited with open container in a motor vehicle at 6:22 p.m. Monday and warned for an expired registration.

— A suspicious person, who had reached his hand into a parked vehicle before being chased away by neighbors, was reported in the 800 block of West Pershing Street at 8:34 p.m. Monday. Police located the person and searched him. The matter is being forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

— A loud person was reported in the 200 block of Cunningham Road at 9:03 p.m. Monday. Police found the man, who said he just had an argument with his wife on the telephone and was upset. He was going up to his room to go to bed.

— A suspicious vehicle with a man inside was reported at the Papa John’s at 11:43 p.m. Monday. Police found the man, who said he was there to meet his girlfriend.

— While on patrol at 11:49 p.m. Monday police saw two children walking through the parking lot of the Salem Community Centerplex, who took off running east toward Waterworth Memorial Park after seeing police. After stopping them, police talked to the children about the city’s curfew for children and learned they had snuck out of the house to visit a friend near Quaker Village. Police gave them a ride back home to the 1300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue and spoke with the parents.

— Police checked on a Vine Street man reportedly making suicidal threats at 12:33 a.m. Tuesday and he was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG for evaluation.

— A vehicle was found sitting at Ledlerle’s Auto with the lights on at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday. Police found the vehicle unsecured, but unoccupied. Nothing appeared to be missing. Police turned out the lights, but could not secure the vehicle.

— Two intoxicated people were reported at 4:32 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of West State Street. A witness said the two people were arguing before one of them fled in a vehicle. Police checked the area, but did not find neither of them.

— A woman in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue reported at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday people in the neighborhood feed cats and her cat was outside one day and went to the neighbor’s house. She later saw the neighbor posted on Salem Talk on Facebook about adopting the cat out. She confronted the neighbor, who said she did not have the cat. Now she believes the neighbor adopted it out even after being informed it belonged to her. Police attempted to contact the neighbor, but no one answered the door.

— Someone turned in a driver’s license found in the 800 block of East State Street at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday. Police found it belongs to a man, who lives several counties away, and the license is expired. A voicemail was left for someone possibly associated with the owner.

Wellsville

— A woman reported at 5:46 p.m. July 29 that a white utility van backed into her Grand Am in the Save-A-Lot parking lot and left the scene.

— Ben Cronin, no address listed, was arrested at 6:59 p.m. July 25 on unspecified charges, after a routine traffic stop in the area of 17th and Main. Cronin, who originally was stopped for going 38 in a 25 mph area, came back with suspended driving privileges and was unable to complete field sobriety tests, after admitting that he had just drank a few beers at The Crystal Lounge

— A Commerce Street resident reported at 9:36 p.m. July 26 that his mother had directed threats to him.

— Police responded to a private property auto accident at 2:01 p.m. July 25 in the McDonald’s parking lot involving Lori Mobley and Elmer Furbee.

— A village woman reported at 11:32 a.m. July 29 that her vehicle had either been sideswiped at the Dollar Store or on Chester Avenue.

— Helen Williams, no address listed, was arrested at 10:35 p.. July 28 on a charge of public intoxication, after allegedly being discovered trying to enter people’s cars near the intersection of Eighth and Commerce. She denied trying to get in anyone’s car but did acknowledge she had been drinking since 8:30 a.m.

— Both combatants involved in an incident at 10:17 p.m. July 28 in the Independence Square area were charged with assault. While walking home, Steven Wright and Keri Monte had involved in an argument which eventually became physical.

— Officers were dispatched at 11:40 a.m. July 25 to the 500 block of Ninth Street for a subject riding a dirt bike and doing donuts in residents’ front yard. Contact could not be made with the rider.

— Another private property crash was reported at 9:05 pm. July 30 in the Independence Square area.

— An area man had to be airlifted to an area hospital at 1:40 pm. July 28 from the 2000 block of Clark Avenue, after falling off a ladder and hitting his head on a concrete pad.

— Officers responded at 6:20 a.m. July 31 to the 300 block of First Street for a welfare check, where a woman complained about police alleged inactivity on a previous call.

— A dispute was reported at 3:35 p.m. Aug. 1 in Heaton’s Tire Shop over an inadequate car seat to transport a small child. Within the next 30 hours police responded twice to the same couple. At 3:42 p.m. the male half reported his ex-girlfriend threw a black safe at his truck windows, damaging them. Then at 5 p.m. Aug 2, the male half reported that the ex was harassing him on social media.
