Mayo Clinic has selected Oracle's Fusion Cloud Application Suite to meet its 2030 goal for quality care and the treatment of complex diseases.

Patients come to the Mayo Clinic for answers and treatments they can't get anywhere else, CFO Dennis Dahlen said in a statement. To meet these goals, Mayo Clinic needed to adopt new technology.

Mayo Clinic selected Oracle for its ability to provide a single administrative platform for enterprise resource planning, supply chain management, HR and Oracle Fusion Analytics. This includes AI to automate manual processes, analytics to react to market shifts in real time and automatic updates to stay current.

Oracle Cloud simplifies processes, Dahlen said.

With Oracle Cloud Applications and the help of PwC as its implementation partner, Mayo Clinic is expected to gain a more complete view of the organization's finances to make timely business decisions. WHY THIS MATTERS

Mayo Clinic has said it has set a path to 2030, a strategy to cure, connect and transform healthcare by improving administrative services and scaling functions and business analysis to support its global growth.

One of the pillars of that strategy is investment in digital transformation.

In 2019, Dr. John Halamka was named president of Mayo Clinic Platform to implement strategies, and Rita Khan was named chief digital officer to guide strategy and establish the Mayo Clinic Center for Digital Health.

THE LARGER TREND In December, Oracle acquired Cerner for $28.3 billion. The partnership promotes easing the physician burden by having providers spend less time on the EHR through digital voice assistant.

Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit organization committed to innovation in clinical practice, research and education. In July, it was ranked No. 1 for the sixth consecutive year in the U.S. News and World Report's Best Hospitals Honor Roll.

ON THE RECORD "The healthcare industry has seen and continues to power through significant disruption brought on by the pandemic and the need to deliver best-in-class medicine and quality of care remains critical," said Steve Miranda, executive vice president of applications development at Oracle. "We are committed to being a valuable partner within the healthcare industry and look forward to helping Mayo Clinic streamline its business tools to further enable its teams to focus on what truly matters: caring for patients." "At Mayo Clinic, patients come to us for answers and treatments they can't get anywhere else. To enable our teams to focus on patients while transforming the way healthcare is delivered, it's critical to have the right administrative infrastructure to support our business," said CFO Dennis Dahlen.
